Fundamentals of Applying the German-In-Depth Accident Study (GIDAS) – Seminar by VUFO GmbH
The GIDAS database is the world’s leading and most comprehensive in-depth accident database. Since 1999, approximately 2,000 accidents involving personal injury have been documented in detail and reconstructed each year. In addition, an average of over 2,500 individual data points are recorded per accident. VUFO is currently one of three German data collection sites directly involved in data collection. As a result, we have unique insider knowledge of the database structure and the methodological foundations.
This training course provides a systematic introduction to analyzing and querying the GIDAS database. It covers the objectives, organizational structure, and data collection process. The database structure and primary keys are also explained. In addition, the scope of variables, extrapolation methods, and weighting procedures are covered. Reconstruction data, best practices, and limitations are also discussed. Finally, specific queries in MS Access are addressed.
Recommendation: The GIDAS training course can be ideally combined with the PCM (Pre-Crash Matrix) training course .
