VUFO Newsletter Issue 2501

Editorial

Dear readers,

A lot has happened since the milestone of the 25th anniversary of the GIDAS project last year: a new federal government, a new Federal Minister of Transport, planned minimum wage increases and much more. The crisis that has been brewing for some time, especially in the automotive industry, is also omnipresent: plant closures, insolvencies, waves of redundancies, the erratic customs policy of the USA and the consequences of the geopolitical crises in the Middle East and Ukraine. This is currently presenting many companies in the automotive industry with major challenges.

The efforts to extend the GIDAS project for a further three years also took place during this turbulent time. The GIDAS cooperation partners FAT and BASt want to continue collecting representative accident data at the Dresden, Hanover and Munich locations from 2026 to 2028. Despite all the crises and financial challenges, we are encouraged by the unconditional will to extend the project on all sides. After 26 years of the GIDAS success story, there is a consensus that the safe mobility of the future in Germany cannot do without GIDAS.

VUFO is also adapting to the current challenges, including by adjusting its corporate structure. Our summer (end) newsletter reports on this and other events since the turn of the year.

On behalf of the entire VUFO team, Johann Ziegler, Thomas Unger and Henrik Liers hope you enjoy reading this issue.
